Love, Lust, Pleasure and Happiness.
--
Happiness alone is the cause of love. You love what makes you happy. One loves you when you make him / her happy. This love is not a feeling, rather the essential nature of the Self that is in all beings and things without distinction. When this takes the manifest form it's reflection in mind is what we take for love. Pleasure is the absence of this love, because pleasure soon fades away or turns into boredom if not into misery. Lust is the craving for pleasure which fails its own purpose. Lust begins with longing, discomfort and ends into dissatisfaction, disappointment, but never in fulfillment / contentedness.
