What meets the eye and the ear.
--
Just as our eye can distinguish between different colors and shades, a sensitive 'ear' can perceive, know and distinguish the different musical notes with ease without learning music in the traditional way. Unfortunately mankind has lost this ancient art / natural skill we are endowed with. Great musicians of all times were aware of this fact.
साम / sāma
सामवेद / sāmaveda
deals with this very principle.
Psalm > cognate of साम / sāma,
Hymn > cognate of महिम्नः / mahimnaḥ
Or,
म्ना > आमनति > आम्नाय
mnā > āmanati > āmnāya,
हिम्नः > himnaḥ > hymn
Amen > cognate of संस्कृत आम् / ॐ / saṃskṛta ām / om̐ /
