शवासन / śavāsana

शवासन / śavāsana
--
Good sleep is the 'savasana' gifted to all by nature. And if one could go through this, when the fatigue and tiredness is overcome, one wakes-up. This waking up is as much a natural gift that was the sleep that comes to us in the form of the unawareness to this world of senses. Yet mind keeps working at the level which we call 'thought'. While we are awake to this world of senses, we forget the fact that being aware to this world or being unaware to this world does not change our Reality a bit. Because after waking up from the sleep we find our-self in the same (virtual) world of senses. When one can consciously attempt 'savasana' at the level of mind and is dead to the senses, one awakes to an altogether new Reality about what one is. But usually senses tend to force our attention to this (virtual) world of senses, because we take it as Real, where-as no fraction of this (virtual) world of senses stays as it was in the earlier moment. Our memory, interest and involvement in this (virtual) world of senses makes us captive of this (virtual) world of senses. There is a famous Marathi owi (stanza) by Swami Samarth Ramdas, where-in he points out :
झोपीं पाजि जसा निवृत्त असशी,
जागेपणी हो तसा,
आनन्दात बुडोनि विस्मृति न घे
येई सुख त्या ठसा ।
तू आनन्दसमुद्र, विश्व ऊर्मि,
येईल लक्षी तुला,
जे जे पाहसि ते ते स्वरूप तुझे,
जाणून घोटी मुला !
--
jhopīṃ pāji jasā nivṛtta asaśī,
jāgepaṇī ho tasā,
ānandāta buḍoni vismṛti na ghe
yeī sukha tyā ṭhasā |
tū ānandasamudra, viśva ūrmi,
yeīla lakṣī tulā,
je je pāhasi te te svarūpa tujhe,
jāṇūna ghoṭī mulā !

While one is in the waking state of mind, one should 'die' to the world as one is in sleep. Practicing this, one occasionally attains a temporary state of ecstasy (extreme joy), but one should not take this joy as the 'Ultimate' and forget 'self' one should rather keep aware, and then one comes across the Reality what 'Self' is.
When the final moments of one's life arrive, one has to enter willingly or forcibly in this posture of शवासन / śavāsana and no breath-resuscitation or oxygen could bring one back to life.
Before the death approaches one, if one has practiced is utterly enough of शवासन / śavāsana as if  he is dead to the world, one can rise up in the life eternal.
