ṛgveda saṃhitā maṇḍalaṃ -1.
ऋग्वेद संहिता मण्डलं -1.

I had this with me since last 3 years.
Thought many times to go through it.
Regularly every morning and occasionally in the evenings too.
Within about 2 months I could complete one reading (पाठं / saying the text orally) of the whole text.
I remember having gone through these Vedika streams in few of my past lives. So I can grasp the spirit though I never bother about grammar or meaning.
The Veda is not a chronological text.
We find various mantras in the original form in different Veda. This is just because Veda is Sound Eternal that keeps reverberating in different spheres (loka). This is like a 'scientific' law that holds on physical level, only when we think in that perspective. As these laws are independent of one another yet relevant in their perspective, Veda likewise governs different spheres of existence / Life.
"आचार्य! यह सत्य है कि आप शास्त्र-निष्णात तर्क-कुशल, ऊहापोह-विचक्षण विद्वान थे । किंतु किसी कारणवश आपने कभी इस ओर ध्यान न दिया कि शास्त्र के चार अर्थ होते हैं और वे पात्र को ही प्राप्त होते हैं । पहला है कोरा शब्दार्थ जो शब्दार्णव है । दूसरा है भावार्थ जो विवेचना का एक प्रकार-मात्र होता है । यह अनेक सरिताओं सा अनेक दिशाओं में भटकता हुआ शब्दार्णव में निःशेष हो जाता है । तीसरा है गूढार्थ जो शास्त्र में गहरी डुबकी लगानेवाले को मोती सा प्राप्त होता है किंतु सागर तो मोतियों का आगार है । चौथा और एकमात्र प्रयोजनपरक है तत्वार्थ जो सागर या सरिता में जल की तरह सर्वत्र एक सा व्याप्त होता है ।"   
No exaggeration, but I love and try to read the original texts preferably in the original form and language. And the truth that Veda connect to us with, in this Sound Eternal is of these four kinds :
1.The literal meaning of the word,
2.The imperative meaning,
3.The deeper profound, yet intellectual meaning, that is soon lost of sight,
and
4.The essential.
I have gone through many a उपनिषत् / upaniṣats previously in the last 25 or more years.
I don't deny in the beginning I took a bit help from the Hindi translations or संस्कृत भाष्य / saṃskṛta bhāṣya but tried to keep away from English translations, because I just don't trust any, how-so-ever a great authority.
I always deeply felt, most of those who have translated these संस्कृत-ग्रंथ / saṃskṛta-graṃtha, Veda have made an attempt of explaining, what they themselves have not understood, far from grasping.
The Essential.
Just because they didn't deserve.
Many of them have distorted the meaning in fact according to their orientation of mind.
So I don't take them seriously.
I rather find those more convincing who have learnt Veda in whatever form in a traditional Gurukul in the stream of Vedik knowledge and practice of Vedika rituals.
Hope I shall have yet another reading once more and take notes.
