Below is an approximate translation of my last, the earlier
Hindi Post .
सनातन सत्य / सनातन धर्म
The Last Writ .
The Reality of Existence that is both the perpetual as well as Timeless is though Eternal is indeed indescribable.Neither it is needed.
Relationship between the Description and the Described is what is the ever-present Truth that is 'Consciousness' .
Relationship as we know is though an assumed mental construct / imagination / concept only, could be either transitory or temporary; or a permanent, ceaseless, perpetual one.
A relationship with the transitory, ephemeral, is no doubt temporary, but a relationship that connects with the ever-present abiding Reality could sure be a Timeless, ceaseless, unending eternal one.
But to see this, it is utmost necessary that we truly know and come across something which could be seen and found as eternal as such.Neither the intellect, thought, concepts, assumptions, guess, premises, surmises estimates and inferences, nor even the experience, emotions etc. could stay for long. All vanish in their time.
If there is anything that stands to the criteria of Timelessness, perpetuity, it is the 'Consciousness', that is so inconspicuous yet so evident as well always.
This 'Consciousness' has no beginning nor an end, For the very beginning and the end are seen within it. Even the I-sense, that appears and disappears too rises up, sprouts from the 'Consciousness', which prevails before , with and after the disappearance of the I-sense.
I-sense is therefore only a trifleof thought that happens in a split moment and is lost.
So, the 'Consciousness' is not a thing one could hold, own, grasp and claim oneself its owner.
On the contrary it is the 'Consciousness' that holds and bears innumerable life-forms; -the individual creatures and the sense of 'I' associated with and in each of them. nd as an individual every one is but an expression of that impersonal 'Consciousness' which is the substratum, foundation and the very support of the individual.
'Consciousness' itself is evidence of anything, including itself. And this is Timeless Reality. Because if it were transient, there should be another 'consciousness' that is its evidence. This is just absurd.
Therefore 'Consciousness' alone is Truth that is non-dual. Because all sense of duality/ plurality / multiplicity is merely an idea only .
Again, it is also true that 'Consciousness' alone changeless and immutable state / fact while all else constantly undergoes change, mutates so is not the Reality worth its name.
In this way, 'Consciousness alone is the pointer that points out at itself as well.
And so, all that is seen coming and going away in the 'Consciousness'is temporary, of no value what-so-ever, and consequently illusory, Because everything that appears and disappears has no essence of its own. It is but the name and the form that is perceived in 'Consciousness' that causes a sense of our world for a short while only.
Waking dream and deep sleep states like-wise the sense of 'I'are temporary phases of mind and so are transient. They don't last.
Abiding in this pure Consciousness is the only way to be in communion with the Timeless; -the Ceaseless Eternal Reality.
This is what is expressed as सनातन सत्य / सनातन धर्म in the Upanishads.
