Memory and forgetfulness

Memory and forgetfulness!
--
Forgetting / not remembering is a spontaneous and natural activity of brain. This is not because the brain does so according a plan, owing to the anticipation and as a precautionary measure. This is rather because of the inherent process of its learning by experience, which builds up and maintains memory.  Accordingly follows a process of creating cognizance / recognition  which is but another form of memory. It is important to note that cognizance / recognition and memory are two aspects of the same thing. No memory implies no recognition and no recognition implies no memory.
Each of the two implies and is implied by the other. This memory / recognition makes the brain believe in the existence of 2 entities. Namely, 'me' and 'my world'. This 'me' / thinker becomes the center around which the 'person' comes into appearance. That gives existence to fear, forgetfulness, remembrance, and also desire, conflict, and many other confusions, beliefs, concepts. This whole 'person' has existence because of memory / thought only. Attachment to this person and fear of loss of this is another name of ego. Ego is not pride, but the assertion and re-assertion of 'oneself' as this person. The effort of seeking a permanent element in this whole mass is also because of this attachment to name and form of this 'person'.  Is it not an amazing fact that 'memory' becomes centered around this 'person' which is itself a product of memory? The resulting attachment and ignorance of this attachment happen in the mind which is neither a slave to the person nor the memory. Though memory functions supported by this very thing 'the mind' and comes under bondage, seeks freedom but that is entirely futile because memory itself keeps changing all the time. something is always added to deleted from the memory which is another name for recognition only.
A mind that awakens to this truth was never in bondage nor seeks or needs freedom / liberation.
The apparent conflict that one finds in life is again a temporary state of thought / brain.
When this conflict is seen thus, attention to it brings a fundamental radical transformation in the working of brain and thinking process.

Q.: Why we tend to forget some urgent matters?
A.:  We began with saying :
Forgetting / not remembering is a spontaneous and natural activity of brain.... psychologists can tell you in volumes about this but that does not explain 'we' have neither 'memory' nor 'forgetfulness'. To understand this, one needs to find out what one means by 'I' / 'we' and brain. Saying 'my brain' is itself the very first misunderstanding. If the two ('we' / 'brain') could be correctly seen as two entirely distinct things / entities, this question is no more significant ...;)
But this question leads to another important topic for discussion. What we take by the term 'mind' and what is meant by (physical) brain, and how the two have the mutual relationship? I shall write about this after a while.
