This refers to an article in Hindustan Times, I came across a minute ago.
Incidentally, I hoped to write a post in Hindi with the title :
"सनातन धर्म में नारी का स्थान",
But presently feel this one is far more relevant and timely vis-a-vis the relation between these two Great Nations with an old link of culture and religion also that the two neighbors share.
It is well-known all over the world that India is the cradle of Buddhism that spread all over to China, Korea, Japan, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and even to Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
Though Historically in the bygone era of yore, The Ceylon was सिंहल-द्वीप - 'The island named Simhal in Valmiki Ramayana and also in the next Versions of Valmiki Ramayana, Afterwards the message of Buddha was sent through His son and daughter to this ancient land. That is though another story, but has the impact that how we neighbors of Asia Continent as a whole and not only the Indian sub-continent are bound together in a strong bond of religion and culture also.
Tibet is though a bone of contention between India and China, and the expansionist greed of Communist Party of China grabbed Tibet, still we can forget the enmity and bury the hatchet for good and live in broader and greater harmony that we had in History. The ethical and inspirational ambitions of all these countries resemble to a great extant and The Communist ideology that ultimately utterly failed in the erstwhile U.S.S.R.indicates that no nation could be kept united on such ground.
The Last century has been a witness to the evolution of the rational mind in the whole world even the parts of Europe, U.S. and Australia welcomed Buddhism and even Sanatana-Dharma (I personally, for my own preference, avoid calling it 'Hindu', but believe this word "Sanatana-Dharma" is applicable to and includes the tenets and core-elements of both (the so-called 'Hindu' Religion and the Buddhism).
Except the West Asia countries, the whole world shares this spirit of search in all spheres of life, -including Religion and Spiritual as well, and a rational approach to this.
The world has however utterly failed to address and deal with the "Islam" which originated in the West Asia and subsequently spread over the whole earth. Though "Islam" has been accorded the status of "a religion" no-where it was accepted naturally and welcomed cordially as was with the Buddhism.
China though forcibly occupied Tibet, The Communist Regime just failed in realizing that accession of Tibet to China could not be done with the application of force. If the example of the erstwhile U.S.S.R. is any clue, such larger 'states' could not be politically controlled and managed under one harsh regime, be it "Islam" or "Communism".
This may be interesting to see that Islam and Communism share the same political ideology.
1. Both have a "Holy Book".
2. Both have a "Prophet" / Founder.
3. Both have a goal of establishing a world-Government.
4. Both vehemently impose and dictate their authority over the rest.
5. Lastly though Islam believes in the Existence of 'One' Almighty (Call it 'God' if they agree). Communism is unique in that it rejects 'God' and 'religion' straightforward (at least in principle).
The Buddhism in comparison, is sometimes referred to as 'Atheist' religion, which reduces to the same. So Communism shares that cord with Buddhism.
With the fall of the U.S.S.R. Communism collapsed and along-with the Capitalism too.
But in this day of surging of many ethnic and 'nationalistic' movements, it is apparent that the very definition of a 'nation' holds no more.
We can think of a 'Democratic-World' where we all should live peacefully and harmony with all.
China and India both can have a meaningful dialogue to enhance the cohesive Democratic values and ideals with welfare of 'people' as a whole and not in the light of Islam, Communism, Capitalism or Jingoism. This is the only hope for humanity as well. This may eventually pave a path to :
वसुधैव कुटुम्बकं / The entire world is but one family.
